Carlos Gimenez is a Spanish classical saxophonist and prize winner of various international competitions. Since his solo debut with orchestra in Valencia in 2012 at the age of 19 he is active as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Based in Germany since 2023, he has played with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Berlin, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, DSO Berlin, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover and Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest.
As a chamber musician, he works with ensembles, choirs, composers and instrumentalists across artistic disciplines, formats and repertoire. Since 2023, he has been the soprano saxophonist of acclaimed German Clair-obscur Saxophone Quartet. Carlos is praised for his lyrical phrasing, expressive depth and technical brilliance. With passion, he advocates for the presence of the saxophone on chamber music stages as well as in orchestral programmes.
His new recital project with piano “Cantar del Alma” is a deeply personal journey with vocal music by Wagner, Rachmaninoff and from Spain – reimagined for the saxophone. The programme was recently featured at the Philharmonie Berlin and will be released as his debut CD by Musikproduktion Dabringhaus & Grimm in 2026.
