Munich-based recorder player and ECHO Award winner Stefan Temmingh was born in Cape Town, South Africa. His powerful playing puts him in a class of his own. With his strong sound he effortlessly fills large halls, whether he is appearing with his baroque ensemble or accompanied by an orchestra. His virtuosity, lively stage presence, creative programme ideas and highly original CD recordings cheerfully ignore the perceived boundaries of his instrument and place him firmly among the very best recorder players in the world. Mastering a repertoire from baroque to contemporary works, Stefan Temmingh effortlessly sweeps recorder clichés off the stage and draws more young people into the concert halls than many others. Regularly, Stefan is compared to the legendary Frans Brüggen.
